Event Recap: Festive Walk at Chinatown
Nothing beats Chinatown during the Chinese New Year season, and we couldn’t miss the chance to experience it together! Our community gathered for an evening walk through the heart of the district, soaking in all the dazzling lights, deep culture, and high energy of one of Singapore’s most historic neighbourhoods at its absolute peak.
Pagoda Street & Heritage Highlights
We started our journey on Pagoda Street, walking past beautiful traditional shophouses completely decked out in festive decorations. While taking in the glowing streets, we dived into a bit of local history, learning about the incredible legacy of the Samsui women and their significant role in building early Singapore.
Temple Hopping & Market Buzz
Next up, we took a closer look at Chinatown's diverse cultural landmarks. We stopped by Sri Mariamman Temple, Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple to admire its stunning, intricate gopuram, before heading over to the majestic, Tang-style architecture of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
From there, we dove straight into the amazing festive chaos of the Chinese New Year Market on Temple Street. The area was absolutely buzzing, and we loved checking out the seasonal stalls packed with traditional goods and delicious holiday treats.
Mapping Out Our 2026 Fortunes
We wrapped up our evening at Chinatown Complex for a little interactive fun. We gathered around the colorful zodiac displays to check out our 2026 fortune predictions. There were plenty of laughs (and maybe a few sighs of relief!) as we read what the new year has in store for our career, love, and luck.
By the time the night wound down, we all walked away with a deeper appreciation for Lunar New Year traditions and a bunch of great new memories. Exploring the city is always fun, but experiencing it together as a community makes it unforgettable!
